I was talking to a friend a couple of years ago and he said that started he just started to make his own jerky but that that it really doesn’t save him that much money over buying Jerky Direct jerky. He gave me a small piece of his jerky to try and at first it seemed to taste pretty good, but about a half hour later I could still taste it, and it wasn’t as pleasant by then.
I think he said he bought 5 pounds of meat and it shrunk down to 1 pound. That’s gets expensive just to make a trial batch. He could have gotten into Jerky Direct and bought it at wholesale for less, it would have been a lot easier, and he would have had a much better product.
